If you're an owner: send a recent processing statement before we talk, pages 1 and 2, account number blurred. I mark up the effective rate and the lines that are negotiable, and you keep that breakdown whether or not you switch.
If you want to be an agent: I explain how the pay works, what the first month looks like, and what it takes to sign a merchant. If it isn't a fit I'll say so on the call rather than waste your month.
No rates are quoted before a statement is read. Any number given without seeing your statement is a guess, and guesses are how owners end up overpaying in the first place.
