COMPARE

WIX OR SQUARESPACE, OR A DONE-FOR-YOU WEBSITE?

Wix and Squarespace are website builders: you pick a template and build and edit the pages yourself, and both point you to hired experts if you want help. Conqueror Capital is a done-for-you service: we write, build and launch your website, usually within 48 hours of a short kickoff call, set up your Google Business Profile, and keep the site running. The Wix and Squarespace columns below use only what each company publishes on its own website, checked 2026-10-19.

WHICH ONE FITS A CONTRACTOR

honest fit

A builder like Wix or Squarespace fits if you enjoy doing it yourself, have a few evenings to write and lay out the pages, and will come back to update photos, services and hours as the business changes. It works well when someone keeps it current.

A done-for-you website fits if your evenings go to quotes, invoices and the next job, and you would rather answer a few questions than learn an editor. It also fits when you want the website and the Google Business Profile handled by the same people, so the name, phone number and services match in both places.

Either way, the site does the same job: a homeowner on a phone should see what you do, where you work and how to reach you in a few seconds. See what that looks like for plumbers, electricians, roofers, HVAC contractors and handymen.

WHAT A CONTRACTOR SITE NEEDS

whoever builds it
  • A phone number you can tap. At the top of every page, not only on the contact page.
  • One page per main job. Drain cleaning, water heaters, panel upgrades, roof repair: each with what you do and where.
  • Your service area in plain words. The towns you actually drive to.
  • Real photos. Your truck, your team, finished jobs. Not stock photos of someone else's crew.
  • Fast and easy on a phone. Open it on your own phone before you call it done.
  • The same name, address and phone as your Google profile. So customers see one set of details wherever they find you.

QUESTIONS TO ASK

before you pick
  1. Who owns the domain? It should be registered in your business name, with the login in your hands.
  2. What happens if I leave? Ask whether you can move the domain and keep your text and photos.
  3. Who updates the site? New services, new photos, holiday hours: you, or someone you can call?
  4. Who sets up the Google Business Profile? A website alone does not put you on Google Maps. See website vs Google Business Profile.
  5. What does "live" mean? Published and working. No one can promise when or where search engines will show a new site.
