FOR GENERAL CONTRACTORS

WEBSITES, LOCAL SEO AND ADS FOR GENERAL CONTRACTORS.

A homeowner planning an addition or a commercial tenant planning a build-out will check you online long before they ask for a bid. We build the site, the profile and the ads that make that check go your way.

WHERE THE LEADS LEAK

five common gaps
  1. No project pages, just a service list. Someone planning a new garage wants to see garages you have built, with a few sentences on scope and what the owner asked for. A single page that says 'residential and commercial construction' gives them nothing to compare. They move on to the builder who shows the work.
  2. Bid requests land in a dead inbox. Many contractor sites send form leads to an old address nobody checks while the crew is on site. A property manager who asked for a walk-through hears nothing for days and hires whoever called back first. Every form should reach a phone that someone actually looks at.
  3. Profile lists the wrong primary category. A general contractor filed only under a vague category can miss searches for custom home builders, commercial builders or additions. The primary category is one of the strongest relevance signals Google reads. Picking it carelessly hides you from the jobs you want most.
  4. Ads that pay for handyman clicks. Broad match on 'contractor' pulls in people who want a shelf hung or a door fixed. Those clicks cost the same as a serious renovation lead. Without negative keywords, a small budget drains on jobs you would never quote.
  5. Licensing and insurance are buried. Owners and building managers want to know you are licensed and insured before they let you open a wall. When that sits in a footer in grey text, or nowhere, the careful buyers quietly skip you. Say it plainly near the top and let your regulator's lookup back it up.

WHAT THE SETUP LOOKS LIKE

site · profile · ads

The website

A general contractor's site has to answer one question fast: have you built something like my project? We lay it out by project type, such as additions, garages, basements, tenant improvements and new builds, each with its own page, photos you own and a short write-up in your words. The phone number sits at the top of every screen and taps straight to call on a phone.

We write the copy and you review it before and after launch, so the scope descriptions match how you actually price and run jobs. The site is mobile-first and quick to load on a jobsite signal. It is designed, written, built and live in 24 to 48 hours from kickoff, usually within 48 hours, once we have your logo, whatever photos you have and a list of the work you take on.

The Google Business Profile

For eligible contractors we claim, set up and optimize the Google Business Profile, and you keep owner access. Most general contractors work at the client's property, so we usually set the profile up as a service-area business: the address is hidden and the towns you cover are listed instead. We check eligibility first and never create a listing at a virtual office or an address you do not work from.

Then we fill in what Google reads: a primary category that matches your main line of work, secondary categories for the rest, a service list broken into real scopes, hours when someone answers, and project photos from start to finish. We post updates as jobs wrap up and help you ask finished clients for honest reviews. We reply to every review professionally, and we never use fake, paid or incentivized reviews.

The ads

Google Ads search campaigns work well for contractors because people type exactly what they want built. We build and manage them end to end, with location targeting drawn around the area you serve, tight keyword groups by project type and a long negative list to keep out repair and odd-job searches. Calls, forms and booked estimates are tracked as conversions so you can see which searches turn into walk-throughs. Where Local Services Ads are offered for your trade and country, we can talk through whether they fit.

Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram suit the longer decision cycle of a large project. A homeowner might watch a basement go from bare concrete to finished over a few weeks of posts before they ever reach out. We run those campaigns around your service area and report monthly on calls, clicks and customers. Nobody can guarantee leads; the ad platforms run auctions, and we manage to what the data shows.

SEARCHES TO RANK FOR

examples, no volumes
  • general contractor near me
  • general contractor in [city]
  • home addition contractor
  • garage builder [city]
  • custom home builder near me
  • commercial general contractor [city]
  • tenant improvement contractor
  • basement finishing contractor near me
  • second story addition [city]
  • licensed contractor [city]
  • design build contractor near me
  • home builder [city]

Give each project type its own page and match its heading to one of these searches, then point your ad groups at the same pages. Swap [city] for each town you actually serve, not every town on the map.

FAQ

straight answers

Should a general contractor list a street address on Google?

Only if clients visit you there during business hours. Most contractors work at the client's site, so a service-area profile with the address hidden and the towns you serve listed is usually the right setup.

I do both residential and commercial work. One site or two?

One site with clear sections usually works better and keeps your reviews and profile in one place. Each side gets its own pages, photos and wording, so a homeowner and a property manager each find what they need quickly.

Can you show photos of jobs my subcontractors helped on?

Yes, if you took the photos or have written permission from whoever did. We only use images you hold the rights to, and we default to original graphics where you have none.

How do you keep ads from attracting tiny repair jobs?

We group keywords by project type and add negative keywords for handyman, repair and small-fix searches. We review search terms regularly and cut anything that is not bringing in the kind of work you bid on.

Will this get me to the top of Google Maps?

Nobody can guarantee rankings. Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and we work on the parts you can influence: a complete profile, real reviews, consistent listings and a site that matches what people search.
