HOW DO I VERIFY MY GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE WITHOUT VIDEO?
Live video is one of five ways Google verifies a Business Profile, not the only one. Depending on what Google offers your listing, you may be able to verify by phone or text, by email, by postcard in the mail, or instantly through Search Console — no camera, no walkthrough, no appointment.
FIRST: GOOGLE PICKS THE OPTIONS YOU SEE
When you start verification, Google shows only the methods it has decided your business qualifies for.1 You don't choose from a master list; you choose from whatever appears on your own verification screen. Category, location history and how new the listing is all affect what's offered.
If video is the only option showing and you'd rather not do it, the fix usually isn't a workaround — it's understanding why the others didn't show up, which the FAQ below covers.
THE NON-VIDEO METHODS
1. Phone or text message
Google calls or texts the phone number on your profile with a verification code; you enter the code to confirm.1 This only works for a real phone someone answers or a phone that gets texts — automated answering systems won't receive the code.1
2. Email
If an email address is already on file and showing on the verification screen, Google sends a verification link to it. Open the email, follow the link, done.1
3. Postcard by mail
Google mails a postcard with a code to your business address. Most arrive within 14 days of being requested, and the code expires 30 days after that.1 Slower, but it needs nothing but a correct mailing address — useful if phone and email aren't on file yet or aren't offered.
4. Instant verification
If your website is already verified in Google Search Console with the same Google account that manages the profile, or you qualify for bulk verification, Google can verify the profile immediately instead of the usual review period.1 This is the fastest path, but it depends on groundwork (a verified website) being in place already.
Why video shows up at all
Live video verification exists for businesses Google can't confirm another way — it asks you to show the storefront, signage, and work on location during business hours.1 It is not offered to every business, and a business is not forced into it if a faster method is available on its screen.

Can I just pick which method I want?
No. Google decides which methods to offer for your specific listing; you pick among whatever is shown on your screen, not from every method that exists.1
Why is video the only option on my screen?
Usually because phone, email and postcard aren't available for that listing yet, or Search Console verification isn't set up for instant verification. Adding a working phone number and email to the profile, or verifying the site in Search Console first, can open up a faster option next time you check.
Is the postcard method still working?
Yes, where offered. Most codes arrive within 14 days and expire 30 days after they're generated, so don't request a new one until that window has passed.1
Does switching methods restart the review clock?
Each method has its own process, so swapping methods generally means starting that method's process from the beginning rather than carrying over progress.
